A Fresh New Scene in Navarra

“Navarra is ascendant!  Young winemakers are marrying local pride with international experience to make world-class wines.  With her northerly spot (between Rioja and France) and cool Atlantic breezes, Navarra is turning out lively wines brimming with freshness and acidity.  Garnacha is enjoying a renaissance, with a wide variety of style and character.  Ranging from richly-hued rosés to almost black old-vines specimens, the wines offer freshness and complexity, whether made with just garnacha, or blended with other grapes such as tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, or syrah.  We’ll taste six wines and experience the broadness of Navarra’s offerings.  Deborah Hansen, a Spanish-trained sommeliere, was recently on a wine-focused trip in Navarra and returned thoroughly impressed.”
